WB runs
Whistler/Blackcomb are two of the biggest mountains that most people will ever have the chance to ski or ride on. My favourite runs on a powder day (30cm's or more) are Cat Skinner and Upper and Lower Gear Jammer, Ross' Gold and Ross' Gold Trees as well as the Chimney and CBC North. These are all runs found on Blackcomb. There are plenty more runs or lines hidden in the trees, out of sight from the average visitors. Whistler has lots of amazing runs that are easily accessible to the experienced rider but for the typical visitor runs like under the Red Chair, Christmas Trees as well as the vast selection of lines found on the Harmoney Chair offer low stress deep powder turns that never give you the feeling of isolation or being lost. If groomers are your thing or the powder is all skiied out, check out Ridge Runner, ZigZag and Ross' Gold on Blackcomb. Whistler of course has the men's downhill course called the Dave Muray Downhill which when fully groomed offers world renowned, fast as you dare, balls out carving. Bear Paw and Ptarmigan are outstanding runs also and are frequently used to train the world's best ski and snowboard racers. I should mention that I have bearly scratched the surface of possibilities as many will tell you but a start's a start. My recommendation for the visitor who is mostly interested in quality turns is (1) get on the hill early and (2) unless you are an amazing athlete be prepared to make around 3-4 quality runs before lunch and then take it easy for the rest of the day (i.e. beer and sun or beer and hot tub or beer and physiotherapy).Always stay hydrated and speaking of that the Longhorn Pub located at the base of both the Whistler and Blackcomb gondolas in the village offers amazing views of the two mountains and local talent! Great for a couple cold ones while the people and stories just keep on comming. See you there!!
